Welcome

Young Life is an international non-profit organization of volunteers (and some staff) dedicated to making sure kids have a safe place place to just be kids.  While our camps and club events have a strong focus on building character and self-respect, the primary focus is on giving kids a way to have fun without having to deal with peer pressure to do the things they know are wrong.

YoungLife has over 800 chapters worldwide.  YoungLife in the Lower Hudson Valley is centered in Suffern, NY with a branch location in West Milford, NJ.

What's Going On

Reaching a World of Kids

Young Life in the Lower Hudson Valley depends on strong local support.  Our goal, in conjunctions with Young Life's global "Reaching a World of Kids" campaign, is to develop a group of 100 committed supporters who will give sacrificially to see Young Life grow in our area.

How can you get involved?

Time Partners contribute about 50 hours a year sharing their abilities to coordinate events or help those doing direct ministry to the kids.  Volunteers allow us to greatly multiply the number of kids we reach.

Financial Partners help support the staff and operations of Young Life in the Lower Hudson Valley.  Proceeds pay for renting the meeting halls, buying supplies, funding camp busses and financing the living expenses of the individuals who work directly with kids in our area.  Without regular financial partners, Young Life cannot keep a chapter in our area.

Prayer Partners are committed to praying regularly for the ministry.  They lift up special concerns and requests and participate in special prayer initiatives.

Friends of Young Life are individuals who are not yet ready to make a sacrificial commitment to Young Life in the Lower Hudson Valley, but want to keep informed on its progress.  Parents, clergy, and others who care about the kids in our area are encouraged to join as friends so we can send you email and newsletter updates.

Touch base with Carl Whitlatch for more information about how to get involved - (201) 745-1061

WyldLife Parents Team
We're looking for more Middle School Parents to get involved with the Parents Team. Help us plan events, set priorities, and plot our strategic directions. We want YOU to be involved. Contact Bekah Siau at (845) 570-0569 for more information on how to get involved.

Camping

Last summer over 65 kids and 11 leaders from the Lower Hudson Valley area went to Young Life Camps (40 high school, 27 middle school).  Games, zip lines, blobs, parasailing, human bowling - the list of fun stuff for the kids is endless.  There were also some great speakers who gave the kids some deep insights and plenty for everyone to think about.  Check out some of the WyldLife pictures from Lake Champion! (you can view smaller versions of the same pictures by looking on the WyldLife Pictures Page)

Camping 2012

This summer the high school (Young Life) camp will be at Saranac from July 22-28.  Download the flyer and signup form here.

The middle school (WyldLife) camp for 2012 will be at Northbay from July 7-11.  Download the WyldLife Camp flyer and signup form here.

Parents and Leaders

Parents and volunteer leaders are critical to helping YoungLife fulfill its mission.  While the Lower Hudson Valley does have a dedicated YoungLife staff member, the majority of the heavy lifting to meet kids' needs comes from volunteers.

Getting involved in YoungLife is not only great for the kids who come to Club and Camp, but it's also great for YOU.  Meeting other parents and concerned community members, participating in great outings, and knowing that you are changing lives gives us tremendous energy - and we'd like to share that energy with YOU.
